Man that line-up is AWESOME.

The SXSW lineup this year is pretty shit-tastic. I hope they announce some more good bands soon.

BNL this weekend! At Universal. Tickets were Matt's V-Day gift. He's never seen them live - I can't wait to take him.

I wonder how they'll sound without Steve. I am super sad we didn't get a chance to see them again before he left the band.

Well, they just announced his leaving last week, so maybe this will be his farewell concert?

It was not farewell concert - was first one without Steve, though.

Next, Ben Folds April Fools Day. Here's hoping he doesn't announce his piano is leaving the tour days before we go.

If you are curious how the band sounds w/o Steve, the concert is available at the BNL site as a free download until Friday.

One week till Ben Folds! Yippee!

Here is a list of the bands I saw during SXSW that I thought were also Good/Great:

TV TV
Here We Go Magic
Young Widow
Vetiver
The Mae Shi**
Harlem
White Denim**
Elvis Perkins in Dearland
Cold War Kids
M. Ward
Lydia
Gasoline Heart
The Young Republicans
The Postelles
Adam Stephens [member of Two Gallants]**
The Hold Steady**
Cursive**
Thao Ngyuen and The Get Down Stay Down
Lucero
Yelle**
Circle Jerks
Black Lips
...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead**
Thermals

I saw many more bands, but these were the best of the best. Highly recommend taking a listen to any of the above if you haven't already heard them. Overall, definitely worth the $129 I spent on my wristband and the $175 I spent on four days of parking/drinking/food.

** mean I FUCKING LOVED this show.

Friday nite I'm hoping to go see Lucero with Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears [and another band I like but I forgot the name of already]. And friday morning before work I'm hoping to score tickets to see Peaches in June and Spoon with ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead in July.

Saturday night my sister and I are going to see Keith Urban and Sugarland. Neither are someone I follow at all, but somehow the 19 month old in the house won a radio contest?? Apparently she's been listening to Froggy98.
Despite her adolescent efforts to the contrary, Donna turned out to be a normal adult.

Photos here.

Jenny Lewis is my next show -- can't wait -- and I just bought tickets for The Dead Weather in Columbus. I am such a Jack White groupie. I haven't heard a single thing, but Jack White + Allison from The Kills = true love 4 me. I should go listen, huh?

Ben Folds last night at Cain's Ballroom. That makes five times for me and six for TVLTM. Two of those five times have had the two absolute worst openers ever in the history of openers. Last night's was painfully abysmal. I am thankful that Ben finally came out and rocked our faces off until we had to leave to get back home. I am way too old for weeknight concerts anymore.

Agreed. And he was wailing, loud and hard, this time around. He's got a 4-piece with him, and they aim to crank and face-melt.

So Alice in Chains is on tour, and word is that the lead singer is good. I'm somewhat interested -- they'll be at House of Blues, and it's only $25, so maybe we'll check it out.

Cracker in 3 weeks, so that'll be fun.

I thought I'd go to the concert, snap a few photos of our winners partying in the skybox, then get bored and go home.

Nope. No one is more surprised than me that I had a BLAST at Britney Spears. So much I went to the after party and saw an amazing drag queen who somehow looked more like Britney than she did.

They don't even pretend (the real) Britney sings. They just slap that face mic on her for show, pop in her CD, and dance around. And still, it was a blast. I'm probably just a sucker for circus stuff.

You can tell I'm strictly facebook lately because I saw this and tried to click "Like" haha.

I'm glad you had a good time I think I would have just gone for the experience and had a blast.

That's pretty much exactly what happened. I was in the skybox with three groups of four contest winners, plus three work buddies. We were split evenly - big fans, and people who don't care. The other Don't Care and I were the ones who ended up getting most sucked into the show. It was kind of weird.

i would maybe take that offer, if you're a fan of crowded house at all. eddie vedder and neil finn are good friends, and they often show up at each other's shows when they're in each other's areas and they cover each other's music, so it's entirely possible he'll be there.

Last nite I went to a free show at my favorite bar and saw some local bands that I had heard of before, but never had a chance to see. First up was the Hi Tones. They were decent, but had these Awful backup dancers. Then The Carrots came on. It was 3 girls singing and 3 dudes playing instruments. They sounded like a funked out version of the Supremes, I loved it. Last was a very well known local band, T Bird & The Breaks. They rocked the house. I had so much fun dancing and singing, I forgot that I was outside for 3 hours in 20 degree weather. It was a blast!

SXSW 2010 is over. And I'm really sad. I started listening to my first show on Wednesday at noon, and I gave up on Saturday at 1 am [I guess technically that was today]. I saw 51 different bands over 4 days and had a blast doing it. This year I saw a very wide variety of music. Everything from hardcore gangsta rap [Freddie Gibbs] to throwback motown [Mayer Hawthorne & The County] to French trance rap [Radio Radio] to ethereal electro pop [Miike Snow] to acoustic folk [The Dutchess and The Duke] to hardcore punk [Dillinger Escape Plan].

Just looking at the list of bands I saw in four days at the end of every year blows my mind. I think this year was my last chance to go, too. It's seriously bumming me out today.
