3 Is A Charm

New Year’s resolutions. Am I right, people?

Every year, I resolve to be more courteous to others. Every year, I get a little better. I still have a ways to go.

Additionally, my rugby BFF has resolved to “have more adventures,” and has warned me that I will be contacted to accompany her on said adventures. Since “Have More Adventures” is pretty much the motto of my life, hopes are high.

But I am resolving to make two special-to-2008 changes, as well.

1. Be outside more. At the end of 2006, I moved in with this guy, and it has been bang-up terrific, for real. HOWEVER. He loves video games and movies and music and all of these things are done indoors. In this year of settling and nesting and being lazy together, rugby practice is about the only active thing I’ve done and that’s out of habit. Sometime yesterday I realized I rarely head out to explore anymore, and since I get to live in the most beautiful place in the world, well… that sucks. No excuse.

2. Look back more. Up to this point, I’ve been pretty aggressive about NOT looking back, with the idea that looking backward and moving backwards are the same things, and turns out, they are not. I spent a good couple of hours a few weeks ago, poring over message board archives, email archives, online journal archives… and while I definitely get the feeling that I’ve come a long way and I like who I am right now, I also realize that I have gotten here by letting go of some things, and not all of those things should have been released. I like the person I used to be, as well, and I miss some of that person’s characteristics. Hoping to bring a few back this year.

Guess what? You get to look back with me.

Today’s Vintage Jamie:
My very first entry online, ever. I use it to complain about random people telling me to smile. What do you know? I still hate when people do that.
