Catching Up

A lot of things have happened. My “To Write” list is too long for catching up, so I’m going to let flickr do most of the work for me. Click the photo for full sets on each adventure, when applicable.

Concentration
My friend Ruth and her family came up from the Keys to visit. I think these are the first kids ever to visit my house. We had s’mores, played loads of video games, got rained on at the beach, and had a lot of fun. The kids were disappointed, initially, that Matt and I don’t have any dogs. We taught them the ways of Guitar Hero and Wii, and the foolish children complained no more. The youngest is a creepily good Wii bowler.

Matt Aiming
Matt and I competed in a Beer Pong tournament. Poorly, but it did result in one of my favorite photos of the entire year.

A week later marked a full year of me no longer being on the radio. I only miss it a smidge.

A week after that, my best friend Shannon got married on my dad’s birthday. The whole thing was gorgeous and I had a great time, but I somehow didn’t take any photos. Still not sure how that happened.

Beaker Swimming
My rugby BFF Lauren and I went to visit Beaker in the Keys. We swam, boated, ate seafood, jumped on a trampoline and were introduced to ADMIRAL NELSON.

A week later, I turned 31.

A couple of days after THAT, my middle sister Mollie came to Florida to shop for a wedding dress. She’s getting married May 08 in Jamaica. She didn’t end up buying anything she tried on, but if you are die hard, you can see some of the rejects and also a peacock we saw. I may or may not have damaged a dress with human blood.

Best One, I Think?
THEN, my baby sister got married. I still feel a little weird about this. But then, I feel a little weird about anyone, anywhere getting married, because in my head I’m still 15 years old and therefore FAR too young to tie the knot.

When I returned, the rugby season was in full swing and my team actually started to get good. Practices intensified, we wiped the pitch with a few teams during games, and then, last weekend…
Jamie Drinking Cup
We won the Florida Cup.

And that brings us to now, which continues with the crazy. The holidays are insanely busy at a homeless shelter, and we’re in full swing. I’m working double time, because

OMG I AM LEAVING FOR LONDON IN THREE DAYS.

I’ve been trying to travel outside of this country for five years, and it’s finally, actually happening. I’ll be there a week, next week. Crap, I just remembered I have to get a key made so my buddy Sam will pick up our mail. Among all the other laundry/shopping for tiny hygiene products/packing/finalizing/eating the fridge pre-trip stuff I have to do. And in between panicked checks of my passport, because I keep getting convinced that it is somehow expired and I am SCREWED, except this morning’s check confirmed what I already knew – doesn’t expire till 2013. I will probably check 45 more times tonight, though, just to be sure. Oh, and I’d like to eat turkey somewhere on Thursday, if possible.

However! I know me, and I know that if I take photos during the whole trip and then try to upload/label/caption them when I get back, I’ll get overwhelmed and put it off for ages and then we’ll be right back where we were at the beginning of this entry. Fortunately, we will have a laptop and Wifi in our flat, so I’m really excited to share photos the whole week long.

Highlights will include:
An Arsenal Match
Drunk Matt
Wales
Ugly American Behavior
Me Freezing My Ass Off
Drunk Me
Indian Food
Wankers
