Karma BLAM!

It’s been covered elsewhere here at cupcakepajamas.com: I’m kind of an asshole.

Being an asshole, one of my favorite things to do around my house is wait for Matt to be putting on his shoes or socks, and while he’s balanced on one foot, walk up and shove him over. This morning, I was really going for technique, working on a very controlled, slow shove. I must have been concentrating really hard, because when he reached up with one hand and barely tapped me to shove me back, he caught me completely off balance.

You know that trick, where one guy is talking to another guy, and a third guy sneaks up behind, gets on his hands and knees, and the first guy pushes the other guy over, so he tumbles backward over the kneeling guy? Well, it was like that, but instead of a kneeling guy, I fell backwards over a laundry basket full of shoes. The fall itself was pretty spectacular – I covered a good distance, lots of flailing, and it ended up with me flat on the ground in the small bit of floor between the foot of our bed and my dresser.

I finally stopped laughing enough that I was able to finish getting ready, and Matt always leaves a few minutes before me. He kissed me good-bye, told me I look nice in my skirt, and walked out the door. Approximately 30 seconds later, he stormed back in, going, “Baby, you are supposed to take care of me! How could you let me leave without brushing my hair?!”

Honestly? I hadn’t noticed, but sure enough, there was a fantastic hank of hair jutting straight up in the front of his head. He looked like this kid.

Between The Amazing Race and Survivor, I am totally over the bastardization of “karma,” but I can’t help but think there was a lot of it shooting around our apartment this morning.

That sounds great. Not nescessarly the falling part discussed in this post, but rather the coming up for the weekend june 26. I’ve heard that your rugby team is a riot so sounds like fun.
