A mystery!

The weekend we moved in, we decided we were simply too exhausted to set up my bed. So we set my headboard and footboard NEAR the bed, then passed out on the box spring and mattress, resting right on the carpet.

On Sunday, I decided I cannot handle THAT shit one more night, and asked Matt to help me set up the bed. Only…

The metal frame is missing.

It’s not at the old apartment. We went back and cleaned several times, and I think I’d have noticed the Swiffer bumping against several heavy, six-foot-long metal bars. It could have been left in the truck, but… Matt, my friend Christi and I all unpacked that thing and looked it over before we returned it. I have a really hard time believing between the three of us, we would not have noticed an entire bed frame. Plus, it would have been unsecured – wouldn’t it have banged around in the back, on the way back to the rental place?

We searched the apartment Sunday night. It’s not THAT big. We’re both wandering around, peering into closets and corners, because WHERE ELSE COULD THE HEAVY, SIX-FOOT-LONG METAL BARS BE?

Otherwise…

The move is great. We’re getting unpacked a little more slowly than I would like, but it’s getting done and that’s what matters. I love having a washer/dryer in the place and a dishwasher at all – Matt constantly marvels at the fact that I’ve never lived with a dishwasher before.

The actual living together stuff is fine. We’re two good lookin’ kids in love, I mean, what can go wrong? I know, I know, LOTS. But not much has so far, and we’re mostly just having fun. We’ve started teasing each other about living-together-stuff, and I think I started a new catchphrase when I pointed to the empty TP dispenser, the new TP roll on the COUNTER, and asked, “Is THIS how it’s gonna be?” Now we ask each other that all the time about stupid habits and shit.

Next on the agenda:

A Christmas tree.

And possibly a new bed.
