Lame Duck
Here is some crap I’ve been doing lately.

Spent some time with America’s Pasttime. Fine, I admit it – the tickets were free, and I was mostly in it for the hot dogs and beer. Still, it was fun.

Oh, yeah – I met Matt’s WHOLE ENTIRE FAMILY, ALL AT ONCE. This is how you are required to meet parents if you are a crazy person, and I happen to be their Queen.
Fortunately for me (us), his family is made up of really nice, easy-going folks. The hardest part was keeping straight who was who – they always had something to talk about. And in true stereotypical Italian fashion, there were several metric tons of food on hand, so if I couldn’t remember who someone was, I could always pretend like I had a mouth full of food.
His grandmother and her two sisters live in three small houses on a few Pennsylvania acres dubbed “Noca Compound.” (Noca is the family name.) It’s a pretty sweet set-up, and it was fun to go from house to house and meet a new branch of the family each time I walked through a door.
I also got to meet my friend Beth Ann’s kid. I have literally known Beth Ann since birth, and she is my oldest friend. (Not age-wise. Time-wise.)
Here is her son, Carter:

Cute, huh?
And you know me, I’m a Drama Queen and save the biggest news for last. Another major career change, in that I’m actually changing careers. This coming Tuesday, I will start my new job doing PR for a local homeless shelter. When I resigned, my (former) boss actually called me “one of those do-gooder types,” to which I may have replied, “Bleeding heart, baby!” (Call me, Al!)
It’s not entirely selfless, though. I’ll be making more money, I’m getting my very first office, and I will no longer have to report to work at 5 a.m.
I’m not cutting my hair again, like I did after my other recent major life changes. Although, I could use a trim – it was by my ears at the end of May, there, and is now at my shoulders.
I wouldn’t say I’m quite phoning it in at the old job yet, but I just started a newcast while still chewing a mouthful of Twizzler, so I might be a little distracted, mentally cleaning out my new office and looking forward to drinking with the soon-to-be-former co-workers on Friday. My only goal for THAT outing is that there be some sort of scandal, so I’ll let you know what goes down.
