Monkey Jungle

Converstion from earlier this week:

Jamie: So, what did you have for lunch today? Placenta?

Scud: No, Chinese food.

Jamie: Placenta and broccoli?

Scud: No! Beef with broccoli.

Jamie: General Tso’s Placenta?

Scud: I am hanging up now.

On Saturday, we went to The Monkey Jungle, where the people are caged and the monkeys run free. I LOVE this place. You buy boxes of dried fruit, and the monkeys run around and then if they’re hungry, they hang out on top of the big people cage and drop down a little bucket on the cage, and you put food in it. Then they hand over hand the chain until they can reach into the bucket and enjoy the tasty treats. It’s a bit of a poop-dodge, but still totally worth it. They have lizards and birds, too, but who cares about lizards and birds when there are monkeys around?

Not me.

We also saw only one monkey couple getting it on – same as last time. One sex show per visit, I guess. And there was a poop near miss, where it plunked down and landed a few inches from my feet. I sort of regret not taking a picture of that, and I also sort of don’t want to know what that says about me.

But one big drawback of the Monkey Jungle is because the people are caged, it is difficult to get a good photograph of the monkeys, as can be seen in the dismal photo set linked below. I’d say “click on the picture to see the whole thing,” but it’s really not good. Click if you must, but that particular photo set does NOT have my personal endorsement. Let’s just make that clear.

White Monkey

It’s kind of like Monkeys In Jail. Monkeys in the prison yard, getting their outside time. Poor corrupt monkeys. Instead of raisins, I should have put smokes in their little buckets.

Happy news – my oldest friend in the whole world just had a baby. Carter John DeVivo was born 12:38 p.m. Monday, 9 lbs 1 oz.

Beeth Een, I haven’t had a chance to talk to you yet, but I spoke to your lovely husband last night, he told me all about the crappy week you’ve been having, and I’m so glad things are looking up for you guys.

Because no matter what way you look at it, this is a happy addition. Even if I am freaked out that someone I knew as a baby now has a baby. I think I’ll stick to monkeys.
