‘Tis The Season
So, I went to this xmas party on Saturday night.
I think the terrifying photo probably speaks for itself, but let’s forge ahead anyway, shall we?
The person inside the penguin suit hangs out at this pub up in Boca. They’ve become a SoFla family to him. And 99% of them are British.
They’re all loads of fun, and one of them had this particular xmas party with the other half of her duplex – a nice gay couple. Tons of food and booze, and did you know there is an actual real thing that is a sugar plum? I thought they were made up, but that is apparently not the case. They’re rather figgy.
Anyway, back to the Brits. You know how British people sometimes have a strange sense of humor? Well, apparently it’s this big tradition for someone to dress in the penguin suit and carry around a tray holding little chocolate bottles filled with liquor, handing them out. Our friend linked above there got the honors.
I really dig xmas in South Florida. It’s hot and muggy and the tourist traffic isn’t too bad. At this party alone, there was a palm tree with lights winding up the trunk, a hippie playing a guitar for a sing-a-long (only he didn’t know any xmas songs), and a tent outside for the smoking area, which we all had to duck under – not because it was snowing, but because it had started to rain a little.
Oh, and a very, very sweaty dude emerging from a plush penguin suit.
