And then yesterday…

As I was leaving to pick up my aunt at the airport, I saw electrical trucks working on a downed line right near my place. I refused to get my hopes up again—I’ve been burned WAY too many times—but lo and behold, when I got home, light switches actually resulted in light, ceiling fans would spin, and yes, OH GOD YES, hot water released itself from my faucets.

I’ll bet the little tribal celebratory dance I did when I confirmed that electricity was actually reality was something to see, too.

But enough about that, let’s talk about my aunt. Here’s what you need to know: she’s my dad’s baby sister, when I picked her up at the airport she looked fantastic, her Yiddish accent is impeccable, and while I love it every Christmas she busts out the baton, my favorite was the year when mid-routine, it got tangled in the tree.
